October (Tourmaline & Opal)

Pink tourmaline is the other birthstone choice for people born in October and the gemstone for the 8th anniversary.

However, tourmaline has one of the widest color ranges of any gem species. Sometimes as many as two or three colors exists in the same cut stone. Tourmalines, found mainly in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Africa an the US, are a durable gemstone, ranking 7 on Mohs hardness scale.
